Fagor New For 2012
Fagor is not a name most Americans are familiar with, but one that we will no doubt continue to hear more about. The official company – Fagor Electrodomesticos – which is based in Spain, is the fifth largest appliance manufacturer in Europe, the leading appliance manufacturer in both Spain and France, and the #1 built-in induction cooktop producer in the world. Fagor products bring together European style with a focus on Eco-friendly living.
Fagor America Inc., headquartered in Lyndhurst, NJ is the US based subsidiary of Fagor Electrodomesticos. The Fagor North American line consists of pressure cookers, small electrics, specialty cookware, canning supplies, cooking accessories and major appliances.
Healthy Squeeze Slow Juicer
The newest offering for Fagor in 2012 is the Healthy Squeeze Slow Juicer. It is a vertical masticating juicer, a style that more and more companies are calling slow juicers. The idea is that the food is slowly and gently “chewed” to squeeze juice, preserving more of the natural vitamins and anti-oxidants for a more nutritious drink.
This machine uses 150 watts of energy and runs on a lower RPM than traditional high speed or centrifugal juicers. It is quieter in comparison to its predecessors. It is a fairly light weight machine and like others of this style, doesn’t have a big foot print.
It comes apart for easy cleaning which is as easy as rinsing the parts with water between juicing. The auger and filter use an FDA approved material called ULTEM, which is food safe & BPA-free.
Michelle B Cookware
For 2012 Fagor has added a little more color to Chef Michelle Bernstein’s cookware line – “Michelle B by Fagor”. The entire Michelle B by Fagor collection consists of a 10 piece induction ready forged aluminum cookware set, the Cast Iron cookware, the Cast Iron Lite cookware and a vibrant selection of cutlery sets and individual pieces. The Cast Iron Lite cookware is created with new technology reducing the weight of each pan by 50% compared to traditional cast iron pieces. The cast iron cookware collection, launched in 2011, includes a 5 qt Oval Dutch Oven (pictured), a 4 qt Chicken Fryer, a 9 x 13” Rectangular Baking Dish and a Set of 4 (.25qt) Mini Dutch Ovens. All of her Cast Iron pieces are available in Rioja, Blue and Lemon-Lime and now a new Midnight Blue.

Michele B Cutlery
The Michelle B cutlery sets, originally sold in a 3-piece Prep set and a 4-piece Paring knife set, will now include a 5-piece Chef set. This new knife set is intended to bring a more complete and diverse selection to the home chef. Michelle’s 5-piece Chef Set includes an 8” Chef knife, 8” Bread knife, 7.5” Santoku, 5.5” Serrated utility and 3.5 Parer, all with matching sheaths.
All of the knives in the cutlery sets are meant to be used for the everyday, common kitchen tasks and food preparation. They are made with resin coated high carbon stainless steel; the resin coating is intended to provide added durability and a surface that resists stains and corrosion. The handles are designed with an ergonomic non-slip grip to provide better control of the knife while in use. As mentioned, each knife comes in a protective sheath to keep the blade from being dulled or damaged during storage so they better maintain their sharpness.
As part of this 2012 update, the individual 3.5″ paring knives, complete with a sheath, will be sold separately. The sets are available in red, blue and lemon-lime and the individual paring knives come in red, blue, lemon-lime, black and purple.
